Community service crew taps sugar maple trees in Canton

Six men and three women, bused in from the Community Corrections office in Quincy, got a break from the mundane jobs usually assigned to those performing court-ordered community service. At the Ponkapoag Golf Course in Canton, two state park rangers handed out dozens of steel sap buckets and lids to the nine orange-vested workers and turned the crew loose on long rows of maple trees.
