Read More Holidays bring spike in home burglaries Police in several South Shore communities are seeing a rash of home break-ins in the weeks leading up to Christmas. While police say the economy may be a contributing factor, they put most of the blame on drug addiction. The wave has hit Weymouth particularly hard. Fuller said police have received reports of 243 break-ins at homes and businesses this year compared with 186 last year. And the number has been increasing in the last few weeks, including five home burglaries Monday alone.
