Clarification on the Scituate permits story A headline in Friday's Patriot Ledger about delinquent taxpayers in Scituate was incorrect. A proposal by the town would keep people from getting some permits and licenses if their taxes aren't paid. The only permits and licenses the town has named are liquor licenses and building permits. Beach permits, at this time, are not one of the permits being discussed. The Patriot Ledger apologizes for any confusion. The proposed change, which would need a majority vote at town meeting, would require the treasurer/collector’s office to sign off on applications for permits or licenses to prove the applicant is in good standing with the town.
