A second round of wet, heavy snow in two weeks has safety officials keeping an eye on structures topped with the flat roofs most vulnerable to collapse. Roofs collapsed under the weight of snow in Lynn, Avon and West Bridgewater on Thursday, as accumulation from back-to-back storms proved too much for several parking garages and warehouses.

A roof collapsed in Stoughton Square at about 4 a.m. Thursday, blowing out some of the windows. No one was inside at the time and there were no injuries.

TODAY'S FORECAST: Latest storm makes this the second snowiest January on record

The latest in  a long line of snowstorms to pummel southeastern Massachusetts has added another foot to the fast-growing total for the season. The Blue Hill Observatory in Milton reported 14.7 inches with a peak wind gust of 48 mph. This is now the second snowiest January in 126 years of record-keeping at the obsevatory.
