Pepperidge Farm Baked Naturals Simply Cheddar Cracker Chips - If this snack were NOT guilt-free, we'd be in a LOT of trouble. The delicately wheaty, subtly cheesy flavor is SO addictive. Good thing a 27-piece serving has only 130 calories, 3.5g fat, 250mg sodium, 24g carbs, 2g fiber, 4g sugars, and 2g protein (PointsPlus™ value 4*). These things are like super-light, cheesed-up Wheat Thins! They also come in Simply Multi-Grain. (Those are nice; these are AMAZING.) Flamous Organics Falafel Chips - Talk about unique! Inspired by everyone's favorite fried chickpea patties (not that there's a lot of competition in that category), these chips are deeeelicious! In Spicy and Original, a 1-oz. serving (about 10 - 11 chips) has 118 calories, 6g fat, 79 - 80mg sodium, 16 - 17g carbs, 4g fiber, 0 - 1g sugars, and 4g protein (PointsPlus™ value 3*). What's next, tahini tortillas? Mmmmm... Click to find or buy online! Rold Gold Baked-In Flavor Pretzels - The snacky fun continues with THREE amazing and buzzworthy new flavored pretzels: Cinnamon Raisin Braided Pretzel Twists (loaded with the flavor of fruity, spiced baked goods), Cheesy Garlic Pretzel Nuggets (for lovers of savory goodness), and Everything Bagel Pretzel Rings (which actually look like crunchy little bagels)! A 1-oz. serving (about 7 - 17 pretzels, depending on the variety) has 110 - 120 calories, 2 - 2.5g fat, 290 - 390mg sodium, 20 - 22g carbs, <1 - 2g fiber, <1 - 4g sugars, and 2 - 3g protein (PointsPlus™ value 3*). Hooray for crunchy things! | | | | | | Bitty Bites! 400 Calories or Less at Noodles & Co.? Get Out! Noodles & Company (which just sounds like carb heaven), amid its super-caloric pasta bowls, now has a "cheat sheet" of combos with 400 calories or less! Options include a small entrée plus an extra (sometimes two), like soup, salad, or added protein. THIS we like. As for the limited-time-only "Grown Up" Mac & Cheese variations hitting the menu now? (No calorie counts given, but a regular bowl of the chain's standard mac has 900 calories.) Those could use an HG makeover... Subway Surpasses McDonald's: What Does It Mean? By now, you've probably heard the word that Subway has more locations worldwide than McDonald's. We're SUPER-JAZZED about that, since Subway has really stepped things up in the world of better-for-you fast food. McD's, on the other hand, has been revamping its image in other ways since the years-ago menu additions of apple slices and a yogurt parfait -- McCafé drinks and free Wi-Fi seem to be Mickey D's attempt to lure in the Starbucks crowd. Perhaps Subway's upswing is showing a shift toward smarter eating on the go; then again, McDonald's still trumps the Subway chain in terms of sales. Food for thought, people! | | | | | | | Sip, Sip, Hooray! | | | GULP! Exciting New Sips Are Coming... Are the beverages in your fridge looking less and less appealing? Here are some new picks to shake up the routine... Trop50 Lemonade - You read that correctly; the geniuses behind Tropicana's 50-calorie, stevia-sweetened juice drinks have added lemonade to their lineup -- regular and Raspberry. We can't wait to drink these all summer long... Ocean Spray Diet Sparkling Beverages - Ooooh, diet juice drinks are getting all dolled up! In both Cranberry and Pomegranate Blueberry, these 10-calorie sparklers are PHENOMENAL. And we feel kinda sophisticated when we sip them. (Well, as sophisticated as you can while sipping from a can.) V8 V-Fusion Light in Single-Serving Cans - These juices, made from both fruits AND veggies, aren't new, but the portion-controlled and portable cans are. And since the 50-calories-per-cup stuff is at the top of our preferred calorie range for beverages, we're super-happy that the cans have just one serving, as opposed to the 2.5 servings that individual drinks often have. Yes! (Pssst... Click for a coupon!) Diet Pepsi Skinny Can - Is it just us, or does this Diet Pepsi taste better than before? We're not sure if the formula's been tweaked, but regardless, we like these slim cans of 0-calorie cola! | | | | | | The Buzz... GOOD NEWS! In addition to its regular airtime on Saturdays (when new episodes premiere), Hungry Girl will air Sundays at 4pm ET/1pm PT on Cooking Channel, beginning on April 3rd. And remember, you can catch a rerun of each Saturday's episode the following Thursday at 5pm ET/2pm PT. So now that's HG on TV THREE times a week. YAY! ***Get this: New research from the Journal of the American College of Cardiology suggests that eating potassium-rich foods could decrease your likelihood of suffering a stroke. Apparently, for every 1,640mg increase of daily potassium, one's odds of having a stroke could decline by 21 percent. Bring on the bananas and butternut squash! ***Hey, you! Share your food... VIRTUALLY! For every photo or description sent to Kellogg's Share Your Breakfast site, the Kellogg crew will up its participation in school breakfast programs. The goal is to share a million b-fasts by the beginning of the next school year, so let's get to it! ***So much for flying the friendly skies... Like so many other airlines, Continental Airlines has stopped serving free snacks to coach passengers on domestic flights. Be prepared by packing your own emergency snacks! Don't cave to those carb-heavy, calorific "snack" boxes sold in-flight! ***We just tasted a whole slew of Chilled Ready Meals from Weight Watchers, and there's some good stuff! Favorites include the Chicken Salad (tasty, but we'd chew it over lettuce or add more veggies) and the Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes (like really good cafeteria food, which we secretly kinda love!). Check out the product locator to see if Ready Meals are available in your area. And that's all we've got.
